One way teachers get ideas about how to extend or enhance what is going in their classrooms is by reading professional journals. During this semester, you should read two articles pertaining to science learners’ understanding of a particular science concept, an activity designed to teach a particular science concept, or another issue related to teaching high or middle school from any science teacher professional journal.

For each article, you should a post a brief review that includes the citation for the article in APA format and if possible, a hyperlink to the article itself a summary of the article and your personal reaction. your first name and last initial at the bottom of the article a link on this page to your finished review. The science teaching journals you might select could include: The Science Teacher, Science Scope, The American Biology Teacher, The Journal of Chemical Education, The Journal of Environmental Education, or The Physics Teacher. Journals that deal with more general teaching issues include Educational Leadership and the Phi Delta Kappan. The availability of these journals at URI is summarized here.

You can generate the article's citation in APA format at http://www.citationmachine.net or http://www.bibme.org/ . If you know of a better online bibliographical citation maker, please post link here.

So how do I actually post my article review? Good question. The easiest way is to "Edit" this page, Add a line in the appropriate section that includes the Title of your article and your name. Make this line a link by adding double brackets before and after the line like so:

* [[My Article Title - my Name Here]]

and then exit the editor by saving the page. Your link shoud show up and be shaded red because it is a link to a non-existent page. Now just follow your link, edit the resulting page, and add your review. - fogleman fogleman
